The Journey of the Mayflower
By Linsey and Nicole
Information from the books: If you were at… The first Thanksgiving and …If you sailed on The Mayflower in 1620

The journey started in New England and the Pilgrims did not like the king. They wanted freedom, freedom to practice their religion in their own way. Holland promised them religious freedom, but The Pilgrims didn’t feel at home and weren’t very happy with the Dutch in Holland because their children were forgetting their English ways. Then the Pilgrims decided to move to America after reading John Smith’s book about the New World. The Pilgrims went on a ship called the Mayflower in 1620. The mayflower set sail September 6, 1620.They were going to travel across the Atlantic Ocean. They were about to take a dangerous trip.
On the Mayflower it was horrible. The ship smelled foul and a lot of people were sick. Before a storm the men took the sails down. The Pilgrims were in a storm and they were going in a different direction then they wanted. On the way to America one of the main axels broke and the men had to fix it fast. So when the storm was over they lost their path of were they were going. First they went to Cape Cod. And then went into Plymouth (Virginia) and then they met Indians. One of the Indians name was Squanto. Squanto helped with a living and at the first good harvest. Then they had the first Thanksgiving. And this is the journey of the Mayflower.
